“We are not meant to be alone; we are designed for connection.” — Susan Johnson, founder of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
Hello, I'm Helena, and I specialize in helping individuals and couples break free from the patterns that hold them back from living fulfilling, connected lives. Whether you’re facing communication struggles, struggling with addiction, or the weight of shame, I’m here to guide you in creating lasting change.
I believe that facing your fears is the first step toward transformation, and that’s why I’m here—to support you as you navigate the path to a healthier, more authentic life. Whether you’re dealing with the grip of addiction or feeling stuck in a cycle of disconnection and emotional pain in your relationship, I can help you uncover the root causes and provide the tools needed to make lasting change.
Another area I specialize in is shame, which often lies at the root of both addiction and relationship struggles. By bringing these patterns into awareness, we can begin to untangle the past, heal old wounds, and replace self-criticism with self-compassion.
Perhaps you’re . . .
Desperate to improve communication in your relationship and don’t know what to do
Struggling with sexual behaviors that feel out of control
Tired of feeling ashamed in your relationship or like an imposter in your own life
Seeking evidence-based help for relationship that works
Ready to get “unstuck” but aren’t sure what to do
If you’re ready to break free from the old patterns that no longer serve you, I invite you to reach out and start this journey with me. Healing and growth are possible when you’re willing to face the fears that have been holding you back. Together, we can create a space where you can safely explore your feelings, unravel your emotional blocks, and build the life and relationships you deserve.
I can help you with:
Couples counseling
Problematic, unwanted sexual behaviors
Infidelity and affair recovery
Chronic feelings of worthlessness or not being good enough
Addictions
Who I help:
I support adult individuals and couples in healing from addiction, infidelity, and trauma. I specialize in working with relationship issues, shame, and addiction.
How I help:
For couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a powerful, research-backed method that helps you identify the emotional patterns that create distance and provides the tools to re-establish safety, intimacy, and communication with your partner.
By using a psychodynamic lens, I work with clients to explore unspoken “rules” or beliefs governing their lives. By making the unconscious conscious, I help clients rework longstanding, unconscious patterns of behavior that are no longer serving them.
Off the Clock:
I’m a nature-lover at heart. When I am not at work, I love to tend to my native plants and build a water-wise garden. Also, I also love getting outside to hike, camp, or go backpacking.
My educational background:
Masters in Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy, Touro University, New York, NY
What clients say about working with me:
Clients often tell me that my straightforward approach helps them to confront challenges head-on, leading to greater clarity and understanding. Clients frequently mention that this blend of being direct and compassionate encourages meaningful self-discovery, empowering them to navigate their personal journeys with confidence and resilience.
